Mexico and Community R-6 FFA chapters recently were named as top chapters by the Missouri FFA Association.

Both chapters received a gold emblem. Only 10% of chapters receive the top chapter designation each year.

The Mexico chapter was selected for this distinction for its leadership lock-in, which focused on team building, communications and problem solving. It also held an interactive petting zoo for the Parents as Teachers program and a driving impaired awareness assembly at the high school.

Community R-6 members attended the International Ag Leadership Experience program, where students attended a 13-day trip to Europe to learn leadership skills and about international agriculture production. Members taught preschool to fifth-grade students about agriculture around the world. They also hosted a safe driver training for students.

Top state chapters are entered in the National FFA Chapter Award competition, which is planned for October in Indianapolis at the 93rd annual convention.
